Recall Alert for PowerXL Air Fryers – Burn Hazard

Attention all air fryer enthusiasts! If you’ve recently purchased a PowerXL Air Fryer, it’s time to pay attention. Empower Brands, in collaboration with the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), is recalling over 300,000 PowerXL Air Fryers sold at major retailers such as Target, Walmart, Kohls, and online platforms like Target.com and Walmart.com due to a burn hazard.

The recall specifically targets two models of the PowerXL dual-basket air fryer—DUAF-10 and DUAF-005. These egg-shaped air fryers with dual baskets, which can be used separately or combined into one large single basket, pose a potential burn hazard. The plastic U-Channel connector used to combine the baskets can break during use, leading to safety concerns.

To identify if your air fryer falls under the recall, check for black or cinnamon colors. The 10-quart DUAF-10 model measures about 17 inches long, 16 inches wide, and 12 1/2 inches tall, while the 9-quart DUAF-005 model is approximately 14 inches long, 13 inches wide, and 15 inches tall. Both models feature a silver label on the front that reads “PowerXL,” and a white label on the bottom or power cord displaying the model number.

The recalled air fryers were available nationwide from August 2021 through October 2023, retailing between $60 to $190, depending on the model. Empower Brands has received 41 reports of the product breaking during use, resulting in three burn incidents.

In light of this safety concern, consumers are urged to cease using the recalled dual-basket air fryers immediately. Empower Brands is offering a full refund for affected customers. To initiate the refund process, contact Empower Brands via their toll-free number at 866-704-9370 (available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CT) or visit www.prodprotect.com/recall/duaf for more information.
